| Busy times for Bangkok’s famed snake catcher Posted: 07 Nov 2011 11:17 PM PST Back in 2009, CNNGo went along for a ride with Bangkok's most famous snake catcher, Sompop Sridaranop. Check him out in action in the video above.  Snake catcher Sompop Sridaranop is a local legend. For more than 20 years he's been nabbing serpents around Bangkok, removing thousands of them from homes, businesses and facilities.      |
| Vegemite-flavored sashimi on Star chef’s new menu Posted: 07 Nov 2011 09:55 PM PST  Australian cuisine is renowned for its fusion techniques -- adding local touches to famed dishes. But a new version of sashimi would surely have many Japanese shaking their heads -– until they tasted it, at least. A California-born, Japanese chef at Sydney's Star Casino restaurant, Sokyo, which opened over the weekend, has embraced local cuisine by waving goodbye to miso and using Vegemite in his sashimi. Chef Chase Kojima is sourcing all his ingredients from the Australian continent. The sashimi is made from Moreton Bay bugs and is served with Vegemite-flavored croutons.    |
| Life, death and strange food in West Papua Posted: 07 Nov 2011 06:52 PM PST  Although technically part of Indonesia, West Papua is a world apart from the rest of the archipelago nation. Flying into its biggest city of Jayapura, on the northern coast, I get just a glimpse of what's to come later during my trip further south. The non-descript Jayapura is an administrative capital and military garrison town. It has a beautiful view over Yos Sudarso Bay near the border between Indonesia and Papua New Guinea. But it is the people I am most looking forward to meeting. As soon as I step from the plane onto Jayapuran concrete, Dani men wearing traditional penis sheaths and topless women in Dani garb dance and chant to welcome the visitors.    |
| Ryanair busts out 2012 cabin girls calendar Posted: 07 Nov 2011 06:45 PM PST The discount airline's annual publicity stunt has arrived, but is it "cheap" enough? Have you ever pictured your flight attendant semi-naked, oily, with her lips slightly parted as she serves up that over-priced Coke? Neither have we. But now you can. The super sexified "Ryanair Cabin Crew Charity Calendar" went on sale last week. You've got to hand it to that publicity team. As far as Ryanair publicity stunts go, this is one of their classier efforts. It's not like there's no competition -- even if "airline cabin crew calendars" are an admittedly limited commodity. Last year flight attendant Coral Perez spearheaded the Mexicana Airlines calendar when the company filed for bankruptcy.    |

For Air France, they've taken this aspect rather seriously, calling upon a list of illustrious designers such as Carven, Nina Ricci, Balenciaga, Louis Feraud, Christian Dior, Gres and Christian Lacroix, to help create its chic cabin crew look for the past 70 years. This evolution of the Air France uniform is now on show at "Elegance in the Skies," staged through to November 11 at the Alliance Française de Singapour. The exhibition provides a glimpse into the development of the airline as well as the country's changing times.    |

The energy invested into the mall makes it evident that the male market is not a niche market. More than 5,500 square meters is dedicated just to men, from clothes, to accessories, to grooming and gadgets. Chinese gentlemen have money to burn and are spending more of it on themselves. According to Bain, men in China spent RMB 7 billion last year on clothes, far more than the RMB 2.8 billion spent by women.    |

Dive joint: Maya Bar 玛雅酒吧Tired of dice games, working girls, bad music and poorly stocked bars? At Maya Bar, you'll find reasonably priced drinks being downed by locals and out-of-towners. It's never too loud, so this is good place to hang out and talk. The Mexican bar food is decent, there's an outdoor patio seating and live sports are often showing on the TVs.    |
