VIETNAM-The Ba Ria-Vung Tau Urban Development and Sewerage Company (Busadco) and the Vung Tau City People’s Committee held a groundbreaking ceremony for the Vung Tau Tourism Market on November 8 in Thang Tam Ward, Vung Tau City.

The 36,760m2 market will include a 500-car parking area, an exhibition hall, and a shopping mall with 564 retail spaces, a food court and an entertainment area.

Speaking at the groundbreaking, Tran Van Thong, director of the Ba Ria - Vung Tau provincial Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, said Vung Tau Tourism Market will give Bach beach (Thuy Van beach) a facelift to promote tourism, especially night-life, and encourage more tourist spending.

The market will be built in three phases with total investment capital of VND25 billion (US$1.12 million). The first phase is scheduled to be completed before the 2012 Lunar Year.

VIETNAM-The Sheraton Nha Trang Hotel & Spa will welcome guest chef Sebastien Volontier from Le Meridien Nice, France to its kitchen from November 11 to 20.

During this period, Sebastien will honor French cuisine with a special food corner on the dinner buffet line as well as a delectable a-la-carte menu for lunch and dinner in Feast, the hotel’s main restaurant.

There will be a themed wine dinner by the pool on November 18, where guests can sample unique creations of the French chef and the magnificent night view of the bay. The dinner is priced at VND850,000++ per person.

On November 19, Sebastien will teach guests how to concoct a number of original French delicacies in a special cooking class, available at VND665,000++ per person.

Centara Hotels and Resorts announces opening of Nova Hotel and Spa Pattaya

THAILAND-Centara Hotels & Resorts has announced the opening of Nova Hotel & Spa Pattaya, a member of the Centara Boutique Collection on November 1, 2011.

The hotel is located in Central Pattaya, a short distance from the beach and surrounded by entertainment and shopping outlets.

Chairman of the Executive Board of Central Plaza Hotel Public Co. Ltd. Suthikiati Chirathivat said that the company believes Pattaya has enormous potential for future growth in tourism.

World Travel Market visitor numbers up significantly

The leading global event for the travel industry, World Travel Market, is proving a resounding success with exhibitor invitations visitors up a massive 14 per cent compared to last year.

The Monday of WTM is an Exhibitor Invite only day with the aim of allowing exhibitors to hold discussions and negotiations with those people that they want to conduct business with.

The first day of WTM 2011 saw more than 7,600 Exhibitor Invitations visitors attend, according to unaudited figures.

More than 200 of the exhibitor invitees buyers took part in the highly successful Speed Networking session, which took place for the first time before the exhibition opened to allow even more time for exhibitors and buyers from WTM Meridian Club to negotiate and conclude deals at WTM 2011.

Furthermore, 40 luxury travel buyers had pre-scheduled business appointments with 40 luxury travel brands in the session – A Taste of ILTM at WTM. It is the first time WTM has hosted a pre-scheduled appointment session.

Overall, total attendance on the first day at WTM 2011 was eight per cent up on WTM 2010 with almost 23,000 participants, with exhibitors four per cent higher than at WTM 2010 reveals the raw data.

Reed Travel Exhibitions Director, Simon Press, said: “I am delighted with the attendance figures for the day of WTM 2011. World Travel Market is all about exhibitors doing business with WTM Meridian Club buyers.

“The exhibitor invitation policy for the day of WTM was introduced to allow exhibitors to negotiate business deals with those people they want to sign contracts with.

“The Speed Networking session was the largest ever with more than 200 buyers taking part, setting up a highly successful day and WTM 2011.”

Furthermore, WTM 2011 was ‘trending’ on leading social media site Twitter on Monday 7th November.

Amongst UK Twitter users WTM 2011 was the third most talked about subject.
