Most of Seoul's residents love living in the Korean capital. Most visitors love the city too. But when it comes to why, their opinions diverge.

The findings emerged from a survey of 3,827 citizens and foreigners carried out by the Seoul City government. Seoulites said that Han River was the most charming aspect of Seoul, while palaces came in second, reported Yonhap

Thailand floods: Updated info for tourists

Thailand floods

As authorities in Bangkok scurry to safeguard the city in a race against time after warnings it could be hit by the worst flooding in decades in the coming two weeks, the situation on the ground remains uncertain.

For now, major tourist areas such as Sukhumvit Road, Khao San Road and Silom are still unaffected by the floods -- which cannot be said for some areas in the outlying Bangkok suburbs. Many riverside piers, restaurants and homes on low-lying sections of the Chao Phraya River are also flooded.

These days New Zealand is in sporting heaven, hosting the 2011 Rugby World Cup. But while you can be forgiven for spending some time cheering and shouting at muscle-bound men on a grassy pitch during a visit to its populous city, Auckland, you shouldn't miss the chance to take in the sights too.

Gallery: Eco-friendly futuristic fold-out camper van

Posted: 11 Oct 2011 09:17 PM PDT

Soon the trailer park will no longer connotate beer cans and shot guns. Round up a couple of these bad boys and you've got a neighbourhood fit for The Jetsons.

Inspired by the most famous Swiss compact design -- the Swiss Army knife -- Swiss design company NAU is creating an eco-friendly egg-shaped camper van that folds out into a comfortable living space.

The camper van -- called ECCO -- gives off zero emissions, but that doesn't mean other cars won't be eating its dust--the aerodynamic van can reach a top speed of 145 kph, not bad for a portable home.

Golf tourism's latest hot spot: A shark-infested water hazard

shark

Golf tourism in Australia has long been a draw card for Asian businessman wanting to play on Greg Norman's -– aka the Great White Shark -– home turf.

But a golf course in southeast Queensland has a different kind of shark attraction: half a dozen bull sharks in a lake that are granting new meaning to the term "water hazard."

Carbrook Golf Club has captured the bull sharks on video to prove it.

The lake, next to holes 12 through 15, is out-of-bounds to golfers. If a hook or a slice ends in the lake, players are advised to grab a new ball from their bag.

New Zealand's 10 best restaurants

Posted: 11 Oct 2011 03:00 PM PDT

With ingredients like this, how could the restaurants not be good? In New Zealand, as well as rugby fever and plenty of things to do that get the adrenaline pumping, you'll find some of the world's freshest seafood, brilliant lamb, grass-fed beef and great vegetables.

It's a remarkable turnaround. As late as the 1970s, tourists were often heard to say that New Zealand was beautiful, but it appeared to be closed. Restaurants were rare; licensed ones even harder to find. During the weekends, very little was open.

Lethal weapon: Hanging with the world's last living ninja

Posted: 11 Oct 2011 02:55 PM PDT

Grandmaster Masaaki Hatsumi

The last living ninja is not hard to find. He lives and works in Noda City, a shabby satellite of Tokyo, dispensing wisdom from the Hombu dojo, a cramped training hall under the railway tracks.

The interior is cool and dark, lined with portraits, candles and racks of arcane edged weapons -- a shrine, within a gallery, within an armory.

In the middle of this room on a Sunday afternoon, Grandmaster Masaaki Hatsumi will teach anyone who wants to learn.

The art of the ninja is not necessarily a secret, though the lessons are often painful. And today is my first.
