Posted: 22 Jun 2011 01:25 AM PDT

'Aishwarya pregnant' -- two words dominating news headlines and Twitter trends in India today.

Former Miss World, and international moviestar, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan is pregnant.

Though Aishwarya has fended off pregnancy rumors for the past year, it was her father-in-law, legendary actor Amitabh Bachchan, who broke the big news on behalf of Bollywood's "first family."

And he did so in capital letters on his Twitter account, just as Indians were wrapping up dinner around 10 p.m. on Tuesday.

Chinatown

Sydney's well known for its ever-expanding Chinatown and ever-present Thai and Indian restaurants.

Less known is that these three cuisines are topping a list they don't want to: the New South Wales Food Authority's penalty register. This organization patrols the town and issues fines to dirty restaurants.

Exposed: Tourist blackjack scam in Vietnam

Posted: 21 Jun 2011 03:00 PM PDT

Inside a small house in Ho Chi Minh City in Vietnam, four people sit at a table playing blackjack.

"Uncle Manoy" is dealing. He says he's a professional dealer at the "Royal Hotel."

"Cousin Louie" sits opposite. He has told the woman beside him, Martha, that he is a local gym teacher.

Sitting across from Martha is a man who Manoy introduces as a banker from Singapore. Most players would consider him the ideal opponent; he's throwing around lots of cash carelessly.

The "banker" ups the ante to US$1,000. Martha's heart pounds. She has 21 but not enough cash to keep going. Manoy, who has previously agreed to be her "secret partner," winks and lends her the necessary US$1,000. She wins again.

Gupta's father, an ex-military man, told him that being gay is "a phase and you will grow out it."

A series of autobiographical "documentary" photographs and other such conversations fill photographer Sunil Gupta's coffee-table book, "Queer", published by Prestel and Vadehra Art Gallery earlier this year.

33. Fair go, mate. Fair suck of the sauce bottle. Fair crack of the whip

Made famous by the ill-fated politician Kevin Rudd, who enjoyed using Australian slang to speak to the electorate and often pleaded for a "fair suck." The phrase generally means that you want to be treated fairly.

"Fair suck" was coined by struggling Australian families who shared droppings of tomato sauce to flavor their meat. Such was the hard life that all they wanted was an equitable suck. In the fields, they needed a "fair crack of the whip." Fair go, mate.
