Hardly anyone uses online review sites to select a hotel

TripAdvisor and other online review sites may not be as influential as first thought, according to the results of a recent survey to find out how people select their hotels.

Just 2.9 percent of the 40,000 responders to the poll from Market Metrix named "Positive online review(s)" as a reason for selecting a particular hotel.

Europe's biggest zip wire will open soon above a lake at an abandoned slate quarry in north west Wales

Zip World Snowdonia, which opens to the public at Penrhyn Quarry, Bethesda on March 16, claims to have set up the longest zip wire in Europe. 

Visitors will don a wind and water resistant "flying suit" and goggles before hurtling 1.6 kilometers through the air, at up to 120 kilometers per hour, 200 meters above a mountain lake. The maximum height off the ground will be 22 meters.

Beijing approves US$11.2 billion international airport

Located in the capital's south, the airport will open in 2018 with six commercial runways

China's State Council has approved plans for a much-needed new airport in Beijing, official Chinese media reported this week. 

Officials also approved a rail line connecting the airport to the city center. 

Located in Daxing, a suburban district in southern Beijing, the airport will reportedly cost approximately RMB 70 billion (US$11.2 billion) and is scheduled to open in 2018.
