Article Page

Morocco is Africa's cradle of rhythm and music with internationally recognized music and art festivals showing off Arab, African and Berber influences.

In one summer, you can strutt your way through the beats of traditional Gnaoua music in Essaouira as performers enter a trance-like state, then head to Agadir to discover Berber sounds and culture.

You can headbang through metal guitar solos in Casablanca's urban music festival then soothe your soul courtesy of Sufi master Egyptian Sheikh Yassine El Touhami at the World Sacred Music festival in Fes.

Article Page

Quickest way to become a millionaire? Start as a billionaire then spend a couple weeks in Moscow.

But the joke is more indicative of the ever-trending "Soviet era is dead" mindset that prevails among Moscow's brand-crazy denizens.

Wudai-Shiguo: Hong Kong's most talked-about retro store

Posted: 21 Nov 2012 09:00 AM PST

Wudai-Shiguo, better known as WDSG, is one of the most talked-about shops in Hong Kong's hottest indie shopping area, the Star Street neighborhood.

It's the passion project of six local designers who dismiss all the icons of Hong Kong as "clichés."

"People think that Hong Kong means egg tarts, or when it comes to design it means the red, white and blue bags," says Kenji Wong, creative director of WDSG. "I don't think so."

Best Bangkok night markets

Forage for tourist tack, authentic antiques, vintage junk and hot fashions at the city's top evening shopping haunts
Article Page

When you've had your fill of fancy malls and brand boutiques, Bangkok's night markets open your wallet to a whole new set of retail delights under the moonlight.

Open for business the minute the sun dips below the city skyline, explore and forage in a well-stocked world of whimsical products and flexible price tags, browsing everything from tourist tack to authentic antiques, fragrant flora to fight-ready flick knives.

The subtext for Bangkok's street traders seems to be "if we sell it, they'll buy it," and like it or not, you probably will.
