China's first Airbus A380 set to fly Posted: 22 Sep 2011 01:16 AM PDT China Southern (CZ) was rated "World's most improved airline" by Skytrax in June this year, and next month the fast-growing company will fly China's first double-decker Airbus A380 -- currently the largest civilian aircraft in the world. China's Airbus A380 debut The Guangzhou-based airline announced yesterday that the first of five Superjumbos ordered back in 2005 is set to be delivered on October 15. read more

'Golden Week' not so golden for Hong Kong Posted: 21 Sep 2011 10:02 PM PDT Mainland Chinese tourists seem less enthusiastic about visiting Hong Kong this year during the week-long Chinese National Day holiday, or "Golden Week."  Each year, mainland visitors flood the town during the first week of October, checking out the Big Buddha and Disneyland, bemoaning the lack of spicy food on Cantonese restaurant menus, but chiefly spending money on luxury goods that cost much less in Hong Kong. Retailers in Hong Kong look forward to the surge in mainland visitors during Golden Week for a jump in sales. read more

Busaba’s backstory: Chef-owner Nikhil Chib’s biggest secret Posted: 21 Sep 2011 08:58 PM PDT It was 10 years ago today that the original Busaba restaurant and bar opened -- on September 22, 2001 -- in a beautiful bungalow on Mandlik Road, Colaba. Once a momo and kaukswe caterer, 40-year-old chef owner Nikhil Chib has been collecting milestones in the food business since 1995. Today he owns Mumbai's most well-loved Southeast Asian restaurant. Along with Busaba's 10th anniversary, this year Chib also celebrates the opening of a second branch, next to Blue Frog in Lower Parel's hip old mill area mid-town.
