HCM City attracts 1.65 million int’l visitors in six months Posted: 16 Jun 2011 08:44 PM PDT VIETNAM-Ho Chi Minh City attracted more than 1.65 million international visitors in the first six months of this year, up 10 percent against the same period last year. The largest numbers of foreign visitors were from the US, Japan, Taiwan, the Republic of Korea, Singapore, France, and Russia, bringing in VND23 trillion for the tourism sector, 24 percent higher than last year’s figure. HCM City is now preparing for its seventh International Tourism Fair, which will be held from September 14-17 under the theme “Four nations- one destination”. The focus will be on promoting the domestic market and international cooperation in building a safe, friendly, and civilized tourism environment, said La Quoc Khanh, Deputy Director of the municipal Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism. |
