CNNGo in Atlanta: Bikes, burgers and ... Szechuan cuisine? Posted: 11 Nov 2014 04:22 PM PST Atlanta has plenty of southern charm, but these days that means everything from rap to Chinese food to environmental advocacy Quick, what do Coca-Cola, Delta Air Lines, Holiday Inn and CNN have in common? If you answered, "Atlanta," you may be ready to get yourself ITP with the latest episode of CNNGo. On the other hand, if you even thought about uttering the word "Hotlanta" aloud or needed to click the link above to figure out what ITP means, you're definitely not from here, and may need some help getting around. That's why we're here. Known as the "crown jewel of the South," Atlanta is the headquarters (or co-headquarters, in the case of Holiday Inn) of some of the world's biggest and most recognizable brands. Atlanta's "world city" standing is well established, but rather than dwell on the familiar, this month's CNNGo explores the city's local charm. Diving into the former Olympic city's historic roots, we find outdoorsy atmosphere, culinary excellence and lots of great music. Acclaimed chef and TV personality, Kevin Gillespie, takes us to one of his favorite restaurants, Gu's Bistro, known for its authentic Szechuan cuisine. We get out of the kitchen to explore Serenbe, a New Urbanist community surrounded by nature trails and waterfalls. Founder of Civil Bikes, Nedra Deadwyler, takes us around Atlanta's famed BeltLine to show us the best places on two wheels and gives us a tour around some the city's most important civil rights locations. Then we hit up Noni's Bar and Deli for straight-up Italian comfort food. Environmental advocate and philanthropist, Laura Turner Seydel, shows us some of the area's freshest produce at Wheat Street Garden Farmers Market. From fruits and veggies to homemade hamburgers, rapper Killer Mike takes us to a local Atlanta favorite, Ann's Snack Bar. For all its global influence, Atlanta is still a city filled with southern charm. This month so is CNNGo. Locations
